Tell Congress: Ban toxic food packaging
Bills to ban PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) from all food contact materials have been introduced in Congress.
Exposure to PFAS is linked to serious health problems, including a weaker immune system and cancer. These chemicals should not be used to make your takeout salad bowl or sandwich wrapper resistant to oil and water, especially when we know that safer alternatives are available.
Washington state was the first state to ban PFAS in food packaging and more states have followed. McDonald’s, Chipotle, Panera, and other chains have voluntarily agreed to end its use. Now it is time for all people across the nation to have equal protection! Will you send a message to your members of Congress?
