Tell Congress to protect our health and uphold PFAS bans in the 2026 military spending bill
PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances), also known as “forever chemicals,” are toxic substances added to a wide range of products—from clothing and food packaging to firefighting foam and gear. These chemicals are dangerous to our health and incredibly persistent in the environment. In 2019, Congress banned their use in military firefighting foam through the 2020 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA)—a major win for public health and clean water.
Now, that progress is under threat. Congress is considering rolling back PFAS protections by overturning the firefighting foam ban and repealing restrictions on incinerating PFAS waste and purchasing products treated with PFAS in this year’s military spending bill. These changes would put firefighters, military families, and communities across the country at continued risk of exposure to toxic chemicals.
Urge Congress: Protect our health. Keep PFAS bans in the final NDAA bill.
