House Energy and Commerce Committee advances broad PFAS bill

Washington, D.C. — Today, the House Committee on Energy and Commerce favorably reported the PFAS Action Act (H.R. 535), as amended, to the full House of Representatives by a vote of 31-19. In response, Liz Hitchcock, Director of Safer Chemicals Healthy Families, issued the following statement:

“Safer Chemicals Healthy Families applauds the work of the House Energy and Commerce Committee in addressing PFAS with a package of bills aimed toward cleaning up existing contamination and turning off the tap on future pollution.

We continue to urge House and Senate negotiators to adopt strong PFAS provisions already passed by the House as part of the final National Defense Authorization Act. These provisions will go a long way toward addressing PFAS contamination in communities across the country and should be passed swiftly.”
