What we found: Siloxanes

Siloxanes, specifically, D4, D5, and D6, were identified in 41 of 577, or about one in 14, of the hair products reviewed.

Siloxanes are a chemical class that may be used as emollients, or spreading agents. Three siloxanes most commonly found in beauty and personal care products, D4, D5, and D6, are linked to cancer, developmental and reproductive toxicity, endocrine disruption, and liver toxicity.
